Our week-long Wyoming Expedition Backpacking Summer Camp offers an unforgettable backcountry adventure through the Bridger-Teton National Forest, Wind River Range, and beyond. Perfect for both backpacking newcomers and seasoned explorers, this camp immerses participants in the beauty and challenges of wilderness exploration.
In a small group of up to 10 campers, led by two experienced instructors, participants hike 4–6 hours daily, crossing breathtaking landscapes and even summiting a mountain. The itinerary balances challenging hike days with “layover” days for exploring nearby peaks or alpine lakes with lighter packs. Each evening, campers work together to set up camp and prepare meals in stunning, remote locations.
Along the journey, campers develop essential skills such as backcountry safety, Leave No Trace practices, teamwork, and adapting to the outdoors. This experience fosters confidence and self-reliance, inspiring future adventures—or even preparing campers to lead their next wilderness expedition!
2025 Expedition
Squaretop Mountain, Wind River Range
Embark on an unforgettable backpacking adventure through Wyoming's majestic Wind River Range and around the iconic Squaretop Mountain! Traverse pine forests, scale high mountain passes, wander through wildflower-filled meadows, and navigate rugged boulder fields to experience the very best of the Rockies.
Whether it’s conquering your first summit, catching your first fish, or preparing your first backcountry meal, this course is all about hands-on learning in the wilderness. If you’re eager to develop leadership skills and discover what it takes to guide yourself and others in the great outdoors, this is the adventure for you!
The experience ends with a float trip in rafts down the world-class Green River as we take in the scenic views and wildlife and spend the day fishing!
