Camp GROW History

The Green River Outreach for Wilderness Foundation was founded with a heartfelt
mission to inspire children to embrace outdoor adventures and cultivate a lifelong
dedication to protecting our planet and natural spaces. In a time when youth sports
participation is declining, physical education programs are shrinking, and screen time is
increasing, I saw a crucial opportunity to reconnect kids with nature and ignite their
passion for outdoor exploration and environmental stewardship.

Outdoor activity offers so much more than physical benefits—it’s transformative.
These experiences build confidence, resilience, and character, leaving a lasting impact
that helps shape who we become. At our camps, kids are encouraged to grow and thrive
while mastering skills in adventure activities like horseback riding, fishing, hiking, canoeing, rock climbing, and marksmanship.

Whether it’s helping a 9-year-old gain confidence on horseback or guiding a 14-year-old to independently navigate the wilderness, we are committed to teaching skills that foster grit, self-reliance, and confidence. Our goal is to empower the next generation of adventurers to not only enjoy the outdoors but to care for it with respect and purpose.
